Our game Snapshot Adventures: Secret of Bird Island was chosen as a finalist in this year's Independent Game Festival. We are up for
the "Audience Choice" award, which is determined by the number of people who go and vote for our game at this website:
http://www.igf.com/audience.php. I know this isn't necessarily Drupal related, but I figured I would ask you to return the favor since I always encourage people in the office to vote for Drupal when it's up for an award.

Please take a second to help us attain glory by voting for Snapshot. If you haven't played the game, you can grab the free demo
here: http://www.largeanimal.com/games/deluxe/snapshot-adventures-secret-of-bi...

Thanks!

Amazingly, within last month, there were over 100,000 creations for Be My Bra and there are still thousands added daily. The explosion of traffic resulted in fleeting moments of "oh crap is our server going to explode", but we got everything under control, in the end. Thank you to everyone that participated! The application will stay up forever, so create your own if you haven't already.

Also, last month, we launched BMB on Facebook, a fantastic medium to spread important messages like this, especially with the existing functionality already in Playwidgets. Completely powered by Drupal, the Facebook version of the application allows users to send creations straight to their friends by selecting their names from a drop-down within the application. Additionally, users can add a profile block (screenshot below) of their creation, by a simple click of a button. Click here to give it a try.

Dance Off, another game powered by the Playwidgets framework is up for an Independent Games Festival Award- I think it's the first Drupal-powered game to be nominated for an award!

Sometime I hope to write a case study about the Large Animal website and possibly Playwidgets. For now, though, I plan on starting to post how-to tutorials or useful tips, whenever I get some spare time. If you have any questions for me, feel free to contact me via the button above.

P.S. I just installed the reCAPTCHA module, which is awesome (fight spam and help digitize books). http://drupal.org/project/recaptcha

We just launched a new PlayWidget in collaboration with LifetimeTV.com. It's called "Be My Bra" and the goal is to empower people to spread awareness of breast cancer by creating a virtual character and sharing it with friends over email and through their blogs and social networking pages. We're thrilled to be a part of Lifetime's "Stop Breast Cancer for Life" campaign, which they'll be running throughout October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please participate by checking out the PlayWidget and sending it along to your friends. It's an easy way to help raise awareness of this disease and the importance of early detection.

Lifetimetv.com, Largeanimal.com, and the PlayWidgets framework are all powered by Drupal, demonstrating once again that open source can be used to promote great causes.

There's a screenshot of the widget below. What are you waiting for? Check out the application and help spread the word!

Introduction

This being my first post on my new, personal Drupal-oriented website, I'll give myself a brief introduction. Currently, I work for Large Animal Games (http://www.largeanimal.com/) as an independent contractor. With a team of several others, I develop the website, including the back end for Playwidgets. I'm also a fourth year student at Bowling Green State University, studying Business with a specialization in Finance. I should also mention, Large Animal is hiring Drupal developers!

Rating Drupal Modules and Themes

The main reason I started this website is to provide a test bed for my own modules and to test out contributed modules. From many conversations I've had with other contributers, I decided that it would be interesting to allow users to rate modules and themes. At first, I tried to talk d.o (drupal.org) developers about exposing this feature on d.o (let's be honest, it would be cake to do so because the modules already exist), but it was decided that votes would be skewed, as has been seen with other CMSs' websites. Taking the matter into my own hands, I wrote a module that fetches the latest modules and themes from d.o and inserts them as nodes on my site. Accordingly, users can login to my site (using their d.o username) and rate and comment on them. The module and theme listings are updated weekly, automatically. Without further adieu, rate some modules and themes.

The Plan

When I find time to squeeze a blog post in between class and work, I'll be writing about cool Drupal stuff I'm working on at Large Animal, as well as any other tidbits I find useful.
